Book Fair and Bake Sales

Dates for 2011 are:

  • November 29th – Book Fair and Holiday Candy, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Conference Center

Find delicious baked goods, sweet treats and great books at the book fair and bake sale. The event is held in the Stewart Memorial Community Hospital Lower Level Conference Center starting at 10 a.m.

 

Salads with Style

The Stewart Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary is typically held in the spring. Proceeds will be used for patient room updates. Models from Stewart Memorial Community Hospital and the Auxiliary will showcase modern styles for a variety of occasions.

 

Diabetes Education and Support

Stewart Memorial Community Hospital is providing community support group meetings for diabetics. According to Maurine Thieszen, Dietitian Manager, “Everyone who lives with diabetes learns from diabetes. Please consider coming to our Support Group to share what you have learned on your journey or to learn something new”.
All meetings are FREE of charge and held in the Stewart Memorial Community Hospital Lower Level Conference Center unless otherwise noted.

This Auxiliary sponsored event is held each September and is one of the most popular fundraising activities, drawing hundreds of people.

The 2011 event will be held on Saturday, September 17th in Lake City.

Wellness Screenings

WELLNESS LABORATORY TESTING

2nd & 4th Tues. of Each Month • 7:30 – 9:00 AM

AVAILABLE in Lake City, Lake View, Gowrie & Rockwell City

Tests Available Include:

  • Complete Wellness Profile – $35.00. Includes the Hematology Wellness, Basic Metabolic Panel & Lipid Wellness
  • Basic Metabolic Panel – $20.00. Includes Glucose, Calcium, Electrolytes & Kidney Function Test
  • PSA (Prostate Specifi c Antigen) – $20.00. Measures the amount of prostatic specifi c antigen in the blood & can help detect cancer & other benign prostate disorders.
  • TSH – $15.00. This screens for & helps diagnose thyroid disorders.
  • Lipid Wellness with Direct LDL – $20.00. Screens for Cholesterol (HDL & LDL), Triglyceride. This test helps determine cardiac risk ratios.
  • Electrolyte Wellness – $10.00. Can detect problems with the body’s fluid and electrolyte balance.
  • Hematology Wellness – $15.00. The CBC is used as a broad screening to check for disorders as anemia, infection & many other diseases.
  • Glucose Wellness – $10.00. Helps determine if your blood glucose levelis within healthy ranges, to screen for, diagnose and monitor hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, diabetes & pre-diabetes.

Important Reminders:

  • Choose one or a combination of tests.
  • All tests require a minimum 12 hour fast.
  • Medications may be taken with water.
  • Your results will be mailed to you within a week. You are urged to share your results with your physician.
  • Payment due at time of service, insurance will not be billed.
  • Parent or guardian must accompany anyone under age 18.

The lab department also offers Wellness Testing on a regular basis. Our lab is the only one in Iowa to offer Procalcitonin which is a test to help diagnose sepsis or differentiate between aviral or bacteria infection, thus improving the quality of care to new heights.
