Ambulance

Transportation services to and from Stewart Memorial Community Hospital are provided by Calhoun County EMS. The service is a Paramedic level service and can assist SMCH staff to provide Specialty Care Transportation for more critical patients.  The service provides 911 coverage to Lake City and surrounding communities and also transportation of patients to larger facilities as needed.  The service consists of full-time Paramedics and volunteers including drivers, and Emergency Medical Technicians.  The EMS Staff works closely with the Emergency Department Physicians and Nurses to provide excellent care to our patients.  Our EMS professionals are trained in and several are instructors of Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support.

Stewart Memorial Community Hospital is also affiliated with Unity Point Life Flight emergency medical helicopter. The team consists of a registered nurse, a paramedic and a pilot each trained in trauma, cardiac and critical care. A specialized neonatal team is also available when needed.
