Meet the Team: Ashley Mork, RN, Certified Lactation Specialist at The Nest
We’re excited to introduce Ashley Mork, RN, our Certified Lactation Specialist and prenatal class instructor who has been part of the Stewart Memorial family for nearly 11 years. Get to know more about her passion for supporting new families and empowering moms through their breastfeeding journeys:
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in lactation support and education for new families?
A: When I was working as a Labor & Delivery nurse, I realized how much I loved educating new mothers in the postpartum period. Personally, I struggled through my own breastfeeding journey with my firstborn and remember feeling defeated and alone. Becoming a Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS) has allowed me to support families through those tough moments and help them feel more confident and empowered.
Q: What do you enjoy most about supporting moms and babies during their breastfeeding journey?
A: Breastfeeding is deeply personal and can be such an incredible bonding experience but is also very difficult for some. I’m honored to help patients meet their breastfeeding goals, whether it’s 3 days or 3 years.
Q: You also teach our prenatal classes. What can expectant parents look forward to when attending your classes?
A: My goal is to give parents real, practical insights into pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. We do hands-on newborn care practice, have open conversations about life with a new baby, and include a tour of the OB department so families feel comfortable and prepared.
Q: What is one piece of advice you often share with new or expectant parents?
A: The first few weeks with a newborn are pure survival mode, but it doesn’t last forever. Try to soak it all in and enjoy each stage, even the hard ones.
Q: What do you love most about working in this community?
A: I love the small-town feel, where everyone knows everyone and kindness is part of everyday life. It’s special to be able to give back to a community that gives so much to each other.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: Most of my time outside of work is spent cheering on my kids in their activities. I also love caring for our chickens and farm cats and hiking in the mountains with my husband and kids each year.
We’re so thankful for Ashley’s compassion, experience, and dedication to supporting families through every stage of their journey.
