The Foundation

“Putting People First” Initiative

In 2020, the Stewart Memorial Foundation was established to support a transformative renovation and expansion project. This initiative, named “Putting People First,” aimed to modernize the hospital’s facilities and enhance the quality of care. The goal of this $31 million endeavor was to bolster safety, privacy, efficiency, and the breadth of services offered, while also incorporating innovative technology. Such improvements are vital to ensuring our rural community has access to exceptional healthcare close to home. The Putting People First initiative was completed in 2023 and yielded significant improvements.

Our Commitment

Beyond its pivotal role with Putting People First, the Stewart Memorial Foundation is dedicated to fostering community outreach and supporting the very individuals who contribute to our well-being. Our unwavering commitment lies in delivering exceptional healthcare and positively impacting our communities from within.

Ways to Give

You may be considering how you can leave your own lasting impact on our community and its residents. We invite you to join us in ensuring continued quality healthcare services in our area. The Stewart Memorial Foundation offers several ways to make an impact for years to come.

Giving Options

Bequests

When you name Stewart Memorial as a beneficiary in your will, you help the hospital continue its tradition of excellence. Bequests (gifts made by will) have been a major part of Stewart Memorial’s philanthropic support for more than half a century.  Through their wills and estate plans, grateful patients have helped the hospital advance medical care for all patients.

Gifts of Retirement Assets

For a tax-wise strategy, you can name Stewart Memorial as a beneficiary of your individual retirement account (IRA), then use the assets not subject to income tax to make gifts to your heirs. You can reduce taxes and leave more for your family and favorite charitable organization by creatively using retirement assets. Surprisingly, as much as 70% of a retirement account can be lost needlessly to estate and income taxes.

Gift Annuities

Stewart Memorial gift annuities are a very attractive investment alternative. For a minimum gift of $10,000, you will receive a tax deduction and either you or the person you name as the annuitant will receive generous quarterly returns. After the lifetime of the annuitant, the gift portion of the annuity becomes available to Stewart Memorial.
