Starting a family can be overwhelming. Come learn valuable information at one of the prenatal classes at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital.
Classes are free and open to women who are planning to have a baby or are currently expecting, along with their partners.

Prenatal Class
Our Mission:
To learn about childbirth topics in a fun, comfortable, and respectful class environment.
Who should attend?
Expecting mothers in their 2nd or 3rd trimester who wish to learn more about labor, postpartum, and how to care for your newborn.
What to bring?
Nothing but yourself and 1-2 support people if you wish. Please wear comfortable clothing as we will be working on pain control techniques.
What will I learn?
- Pre-term Labor
- Stages of labor
- Interventions during labor/delivery (including induction)
- Pain relief options
- Cesarean birth
- Hospital procedures during and after labor
- Breastfeeding
- Care of the newborn (i.e. bathing, diapering, etc.)
- Infant CPR
Big Brother/Big Sister Class
Our Mission:
To provide siblings-to-be with a basic understanding of what life will be like with a newborn in the house.
Who should attend?
Children ages 2-10 that are going to become a big brother or sister!
What to bring?
Feel free to bring your parents with you.
What will I learn?
- Ways you can help mom and dad with the new baby (diaper changes, baths, etc.)
- How to hold your new baby
- What to do when baby cries
- How you can play with baby
What else will I do at the class?
- Snack time
- Reading a book about newborns
- A craft for the new baby
- A tour of the OB department
Breastfeeding Basics Class
Our Mission:
To provide expecting mothers a basic understanding of breastfeeding in an informal, non-judgmental setting.
Who should attend?
Expecting mothers in their late 2nd trimester or 3rd trimester who are curious about breastfeeding, planning to breastfeed, or are unsure about breastfeeding. Breastfeeding moms and babies are also welcome.
What to bring?
Nothing but yourself and 1-2 support people if you wish.
What will I learn?
