CT Lung Cancer Screening

Low-Dose Lung Cancer Screening is a non-invasive exam to screening for lung cancer in patients who smoke and have no symptoms. Patients who can say yes to the following should consider having the screening exam done:

  • Ages 55-80 Private Insurance 
  • Ages 55-77 Medicare 
  • A 20 pack-year smoking history and currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years.  Example: 1 pack per day for 30 years or 2 packs per day for 15 years
  • Current smoker or former smoker who has quit in the last 15 years and has no symptoms

How do I prepare?

When you arrive, you will be asked a few questions about your medical history. You will be asked to lay on the exam table and moved into position. The machine will talk to you and ask you to hold your breath and then let you know when to breath. The exam will take about 10 minutes.

When can I expect my results? 

Your exam will be read within 24 hours. Please allow your provider time to review your results and they will give you a call or go over them at your return appointment.
