Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions that affect how individuals think about food, body image, and overall well-being. They often develop as a way to cope with emotions or difficult life experiences and can impactpeople of all ages, though they are most common in teens and young adults. At Stewart Memorial, we recognize the complexity of eating disorders and offer compassionate, individualized care to support recovery and long-term wellness. 

Common Types of Eating Disorders:

  • Anorexia nervosa: Restricting food intake or over-exercising to control weight 
  • Bulimia: Cycles of overeating followed by behaviors to prevent weight gain 
  • Binge eating disorder: Consuming large amounts of food in a short time 
  • ARFID and OSFED: Eating challenges that don’t fit traditional categories but still require care and support

Signs & Symptoms to Watch For:

  • Preoccupation with weight, body shape, or food
  • Avoiding meals or eating in social settings
  • Extreme dieting, overeating, or purging behaviors
  • Changes in mood, including anxiety, depression, or withdrawal
  • Physical symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, or digestive issues

Eating Disorder Therapy Group

Details:

Time: Every Monday, 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Location: Willis Conference Center, Stewart Memorial Community Hospital
 
Patients age 16 and older diagnosed with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), or OSFED (Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder)

Facilitator:

The group is led by Stacie Daily, LMHC, CADC, Mental Health Specialist at the Lake City Clinic. Stacie has extensive experience in treating eating disorders, trauma, and other mental health concerns. She is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
Group Structure:
Each session includes:
  • Connection
  • Education
  • Nutrition
Sessions are designed to stand alone, so participants may attend weekly or as their schedule allows. Telehealth is also available.

How to Join:

New patients should Call 712-464-4268 prior to their first session. Patients attending for the first time will check in at the hospital’s main entrance and will be directed to the Willis Conference Center. After initial registration, patients may attend without scheduling each week.
 
Participants are welcome to bring their meal.
