Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based service for young children (typically ages 2–7) experiencing behavioral challenges, designed to strengthen the caregiver-child relationship and improve overall family dynamics. Through real-time coaching, caregivers learn practical skills to communicate more effectively, encourage positive behavior, and confidently manage difficult situations.

How PCIT Works

  • Live coaching sessions where therapists guide caregivers in real time during interactions with their child
Two structured phases:
  • Child-Directed Interaction (CDI): Builds connection, warmth, and positive attention through play
  • Parent-Directed Interaction (PDI): Teaches consistent discipline, clear expectations, and calm behavior management
