Perinatal Mental Health

Perinatal mental health (PMH) focuses on the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals during pregnancy and the first one to two years after childbirth. At Stewart Memorial, we understand that this season of life can bring both joy and significant challenges, and we provide compassionate, specialized care to support parents and families through concerns such as depression, anxiety, and other perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs).

How Perinatal Mental Health Services Help

  • Support provided throughout pregnancy and up to two years postpartum 
  • Screening and early identification of mental health concerns during and after pregnancy
  • Individualized care plans designed to meet the unique needs of each parent and family  

Common Conditions Addressed: 

  • Perinatal depression, including feelings of sadness, irritability, or disconnection
  • Perinatal anxiety, including excessive worry, panic, or fear
  • Postpartum psychosis (PPP), a rare but serious condition requiring immediate care
  • Other concerns such as OCD, PTSD, and bipolar disorder
