Barb completed her master’s in nursing with a family nurse practitioner specialty at Creighton University and has since earned over 13 years of experience caring for patients. A Sac County native, Barb enjoys volunteering in her community with the Children’s Miracle Network, Auburn Summer Recreation Soccer program, and Lake View Little League Baseball program. Barb and her husband have one son.

While earning her master’s degree from Des Moines University, she completed her clinical rotations in a level 1 trauma center. Lexie is passionate about ensuring her patients have a say in their plan of care. Much like her family doctor from childhood, she takes care of all age groups and provides a continuity of care across the lifespan.

Lake City Native Julia Richardson, MD, offers family medicine and obstetrics services at the Lake City and Rockwell City Clinics. Dr. Richardson became interested in medical science at a young age, being the daughter of veterinarians. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Iowa State University, and earned her Medical Degree from the University of Iowa, making her a proud CyHawk. Before coming to Stewart Memorial, her family lived in Nebraska as she completed her medical residency. Dr. Richardson is passionate about obstetrics, lactation support, pediatrics, and women’s health. Dr. Richardson enjoys spending her free time with her family. She says, “To be a part of serving the great need for rural healthcare in my own hometown is such a privilege.”

Before beginning her practice at the Gowrie Clinic, Liz Peterson, PA-C, got into the medical field as a CNA with Blackhawk Life Care Center in Lake View. She holds a master’s in physician assistant studies from Des Moines University and completed her clinical rotations at the Lake City Clinic. in 2019. Liz is passionate about sports medicine, orthopedics, and women’s health. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Iowa Physician Assistant Society. In her free time, Liz enjoys walking, golfing, reading, playing sports, spending time on the lake, and being with her husband, who is an MRI/X-Ray technologist.

Tonja has over 24 years of experience in a variety of settings including critical care, emergency care, and family practice. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their three daughters, polishing her photography skills, and doing needle work.

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Jess Drees sees patients of all ages at her practice at the Lake View Clinic. She has a passion for preventative health care, women’s screening, and preconception counseling. Having grown up in Auburn, her health care career took root with a CNA position here at Stewart Memorial. After earning her RN in 2010, she gained experience in a variety of settings, including med-surg, emergency, and obstetrics. Jess and her husband, Justin, have three children: Knox, Kipp, and Kwincy. Together, they enjoy attending sporting events, being outdoors, and traveling. “When you walk through our doors, you aren’t another number,” Jess says, “You’ll receive timely, exceptional, individualized care at every visit.”
