Mobile MRI

What is it?

MRI uses a magnetic field, radio waves, and a computer to generate cross-sectional images of organs, soft tissues, bone, and virtually all other internal body structures. MRI is especially good for imaging soft tissues in the body including the brain, nerves, muscles and organs. MRI is widely used to diagnose sports-related injuries, especially those affecting the knee, shoulder, hip, elbow and wrist. The images allow the physician to see even tiny tears and injuries to ligaments and muscles.

How do I prepare?

While getting ready for your MRI you should wear comfortable loose-fitting clothing preferable without any metal. You will be asked to remove all metal from your body as this is a safety issue with the strong magnet. You will be asked to lay on the table for 30-45 minutes you will need to try and lay perfectly still while in the machine. The machine makes loud buzzing and knocking noises while getting the images.

When will I get my results?

The exam will be read within 24 hours and the report will be sent to your provider. Please allow them time to review your results and they will call you or go over them at your return appointment.
