Carrie Gentry and Samantha Small Earn Team Award

Carrie Gentry, RN, and Samantha Small, RN, were recently recognized with the SMCH Team Award. This award is reserved for employees who demonstrate SMCH values and culture by working together and helping others.

Chrissy McFarland submitted the nomination. Here's what she had to say:

"Teamwork does not always take a large group. In this case, great teamwork is made up of two people -- Carrie Gentry and Sammy Small. When they are working together, it’s clear they both have an understanding of their roles, able to handle whatever comes their way such as back to back admits, multiple outpatients or being pulled to OB mid-shift. Their communication with each other and co-workers is polite, clear and not afraid to ask for help. A huge key to successful teamwork is communication. When Sammy and Carrie are working together on the floor, there is no doubt it will be a busy but smooth-sailing day.

I enjoy being on the floor with them because they not only do their nursing duties, but always make sure to help with CNA duties. When they arrive in the morning they figure their stuff out and a flow that works for them to where it allows them to help in other areas so the best care is provided. When you’re the only aide on the floor with eight or more patients, it means a lot to knowing I have two of the best nurses. Everyday we can say thank you a million times but I would like Sammy, Carrie and all of SMCH to  know that their teamwork with each other, other staff and other departments is MUCH APPRICIATED and I feel grateful everyday I get to work with them!"
