Lab Team Recognized for Outstanding Teamwork

The SMCH Lab Team was recently nominated by Rachel Miller for the SMCH Teamwork Award. Here's what she had to say:

"Because we all live out of town from 15 minutes to an hour (Sam is our only townie), when we knew the blizzard was coming, on Tuesday plans were made how to get the lab covered for the next few days for the December 21st snowstorm. Pixie offered to pack a suitcase and stay Wednesday through Friday. She agreed to work the days, if the nights would be covered. Bradley came Wednesday at noon instead of her usual 8am, in case she had to stay the overnight; she also packed a bag and was prepared to stick around. She made it home Wednesday night before it got too bad (which is relative – Bradley is fearless and determined). Dixie braved Wednesday night's pre-blizzard conditions and arrived in "weird picture-perfect sparkle snow" aka Hallmark Snow. She was able to safely make it home Thursday morning. Sam worked Thursday until her daycare closed for the weather, and she had to leave. Jon and I scouted roads Thursday in a side-by-side, and I opted to stay off the roads (despite being at times an overconfident Jeeper, I’m safe) and stayed home Th and Friday. Ariana was unable to get out of the driveway due to a car that wouldn't start Thurs and Friday nights but did make it in Saturday night. Andi came in Thursday morning, and finally left Saturday morning when Jason arrived after daylight. Altogether, Andi worked Thursday day, Thursday night, Friday day and Friday night. She slept 4 hours in there somewhere among her 48 hours of work. Around midnight Thursday, Pixie was awoken to attempt to draw a difficult patient that Andi had tried. Pixie was also awoken Friday night to move to a different sleep room to make way for a patient. She was also finally able to get home Saturday morning.

It was an extremely long and taxing four days for these amazing ladies that I’m honored to call mine. I'm grateful and appreciative of this great team that really pulled together, and went above and beyond, to be able to be there for one another, our patients and SMCH. I'm very, VERY proud of this awesome lab team!"

Well done, Lab Team! We're proud to have you at SMCH!
