OR Nurse Gina Davis Receives DAISY Award

Gina Davis, an OR Nurse, is the latest recipient of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She was nominated by a team mate for the incredible care and compassion she offers her patients every day:

"There is not one specific situation that comes to mind more than another when describing the care and compassion Gina Davis provides to our patients and families every day and every visit! She’s the nurse that sets the bar high but encourages and expects the rest of our team to be right there next to her. Patient safety and comfort are her top priority and, in my time, here at SMCH, Gina has stayed late several times when not on call to help with difficult cases or complicated recovery because she cared about the patient and her team, she is always working on quality improvement projects, looking for ways to provide better care to our patients. No matter how busy she is, she will stop what she is doing to answer a question, answer a phone, walk a patient somewhere in the hospital, or start an IV in another department.

She is the best person to be our Team Leader in my opinion because she has the calmest demeanor I have ever seen. She takes the time to listen, will give you honest feedback and help you come up with a solid plan. I was blessed to have Gina as my orientator when I started at SMCH when I moved to Lake City. She made e feel not only part of the team but part of the family. There isn’t one month that has gone by that Gina hasn’t been mentioned in our ambulatory comments or out on the board in the hallway with positive patient comments. She is a true role model for nursing and if anyone is the definition of the DAISY award it is Gina Davis."
